The ski writer of the Daily Telegraph, Peter Hardy, wrote a very good article a few weeks ago. He ran through his top 10 list of the best ski areas for intermediate and expert skiers. He placed Les Arcs at number 1 and said of all the Les Arcs resorts 1950 was the best place to stay.

Protected by mountains on 3 sides with the fourth side opening to views across the valley to Mont-Blanc, the site is beautiful 4 seasons a year.
It is unquestionably the most beautiful site in the French Alps and the last site capable of supporting an entire village. Indeed, since 1985, the French Government does not issue construction permit anymore in the French Alps.
Les Arcs is also an easy access: highways, TGV, Eurostar, and Thalis, funicular and close to 2 international airports (Geneva and Lyon at about 2h 30).
Les Arcs and La Plagne are now part of Paradiski, one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe: 420 km of ski runs for all levels and all tastes, 144 lifts, 3 glaciers and 2 peaks over 3000m, 300 snow cannons.
In the summer, Les Arcs lay on more than 40 activities: a first class 18-hole golf course, 22 tennis courts, pools, glorious mountain walking, mountain biking, climbing, horse-riding, hang-gliding, canoeing and kayaking, music festivals....
